Who Killed Senzo Meyiwa? Murder Trial Resumes

The search for the murders of former Bafana Bafana skipper Senzo Meyiwa continues, with the trial expected to resume on Monday.

The case had faced several deferments since it was opened years ago, with no closure in sight. Senzo Meyiwas was murdered on October 26, 2014, in the apartment of his then-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo in Vosloorus.

Kelly Khumalo and other members of her family were on the scene during the shooting in which the footballer was killed. Theories have been popping around since on what actually happened. Some theories claim it was a robbery gone awry. Others hold it was premeditated murder.

So far, five suspects have been arrested in connection with the case.

The trial of the case was initially put on hold at the request of both attorneys, who wanted to clear other legal issues they were handling at the time.

With the case back to trial, South Africa is again focused on the Pretoria High Court. Sgt. Thabo Mosia, the first forensic policeman to arrive at the scene of the murder, will return to the witness stand for cross-examination.

By the way, Senzo Meyiwa’s father had clamoured for justice until he died. His last wish was to see his son’s killers apprehended.
