Who Killed Senzo Meyiwa? New Judge Ratha Makgoatlheng Says Accused Can Reapply For Bail

Who Killed Senzo Meyiwa? Murder Trial Resumes

There is a piece of good news for the accused in the Senzo Meyiwa murder. The new judge hearing the case has said that they can reapply for bail.

Five men are currently standing trial for the murder of the former Bafana Bafana goalie. Senzo was shot dead at the home of his then-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo in what was alleged to be a robbery gone wrong. But the robbery narrative is being disputed.

At the time the footballer was killed, Kelly Khumalo was with him and so were her sister Zandie and their mother. There were also others in the same room. But they are not exactly the ones on trial for the footballer’s murder.

Bongani Ntanzi, Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Mthobisi Ncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Fisokuhle Ntuli are the five accused in the murder of Senzo. They have all insisted on their innocence since the trial began.

Ratha Makgoatlheng is the new presiding judge, he took over from the previous judge, who was suspended by President Cyril Ramaphosa after too many adjournments that had many South Africans screaming disapproval and wondering when the late footballer’s star’s family would find closure.

According to the new presiding judge, because the court had nullified their previous trial, Messrs Bongani Ntanzi, Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Mthobisi Ncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Fisokuhle Ntuli could reapply for bail.
