Who Killed Senzo Meyiwa? Witness Names Alleged Intruder On The Night Of The Murder

The twists continue in the Senzo Meyiwa murder hearing, as one of the state’s witnesses and a close friend of the late Bafana Bafana goalie, Tumelo Madlala, claimed that accused number 2, Bongani Ntanzi, was the one Senzo Meyiwa had pinned to the wall at the time of the (alleged) robbery.

Senzo Meyiwa had been shot and killed in what was alleged to be a botched robbery at the home of his then-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo, who was herself initially one of the suspects in the case. The murder reverberated across South Africa at the time and remains unsolved to this day.

In his submission, Madlala had claimed that the second accused was one of those who had intruded into the house when the footballer was killed.

However, the defence faulted the admissibility of that evidence, pointing out that the suspect had been paraded publicly even before his appearance in court. The argument would have been different if the suspect had not been paraded.

The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial is one of the most closely followed cases in South Africa, with the slain goalie’s family unable to find closure since the tragic incident of 2014.

The trial continues in court. So stay tuned.
