After a protracted delay, the Senzo Meyiwa trial has begun in earnest again, with Zandile Khumalo taking over the witness box to give an account of what happened on the day the former Bafana Bafana goalie was murdered.
Senzo was killed in 2014, in the Khumalo family home in Vosloorus. Senzo was Zandie Khumalo’s sister Kell’s girlfriend at the time, and both sisters were in the house alongside their mother and others at the time the footballer was killed.
In a next message from 2013, which was admitted as evidence, Kelly Khumalo had complained about being unhappy in her relationship with Senzo, noting in one instance that she felt God was sabotaging her by keeping Senzo in her life.
Continuing, Kelly noted in the message that he also hated herself for not getting rid of him via sms.
For those who might be wondering about the message and what it actually meant, Zandile downplayed the significance, noting that her older sister was somewhat distressed because the goalie could not choose between his wife Mandisa and his then-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo.
Senzo was married at the time, but Kelly would rather he focused on her at the time and left Mandisa out of the picture.
