But his recent winning of a SAG award in the best actor category has him thinking about his acting odyssey, which is about three decades old already. He’d snapped another award at the NBR gala for his role in King Richard.
Critics were unanimous about the film’s merits, which surprised the celebrated actor because, in the years since he popped on the film scene in the States and acted in many flicks, the critics have been mostly divided about the merits of the films he’d featured on.
In a statement soon after, he’d noted that there has never been a blanket agreement on the films he’d featured on – well, until the premiere of King Richard. So there lies the big surprise.
Previously, according to Will Smith, he would read what critics were right about a particular film of his and wonder if the critics watched the same movie.
