Zahara’s Family Share Plans to Host Concert To Buy Back Her House

Late singer Zahara’s family has shared plans to host a concert to buy back her house which was repossessed and auctioned off while the singer was alive.

Zahara’s family is making plans to buy back the house that meant so much to her. According to reports, the Roodepoort townhouse was repossessed due to the singer’s inability to keep up with her monthly instalments. She is said to have  defaulted on her monthly instalments of over R17K.

At the time, Zahara asked the public for help, and they came through for her. However, it was not enough to keep the house. When she couldn’t deliver on the payments, Nedbank was forced to repossess and auction the house off.

According to a recent report by Fakaza News, Zahara’s sisters Lumka Mkutukana and Bandezwa Mkutukana-Febana revealed that Marten Bekker, the man who bought the house, allowed her to live in it for a couple of months while she tried to buy it back, but she couldn’t.

They have now shared plans to host a concert to buy the house. Bandezwa told Fakaza that they have already booked Orient Theatre in East London but have yet to pay for it. According to her, they have also reached out to some musicians to perform at the event, but plan to pay them a small fee termed as “cold drink” because they can’t pay their full fees.

Former Scandal! actress Lusanda Mbane is set to host the concert. Khanyisa Sabuka, Butho Vuthela, Ivory Sikepe, Nathi Mankayi and Zahara’s best friend Vusi Nova will also be featured in it.
