Zakes Bantwini Celebrates Birthday, Calls On Minister Zizi Kodwa To Do More For The Entertainment Industry
South African disc jockey and producer Zakes Nabtwini has called on the country’s minister of arts and culture, Zizi Kodwa, to do more for the entertainment industry.
His call readily brings to mind a similar call from artists during the coronavirus pandemic when South Africa was under lockdown. But Nathi Mthethwa was the minister at the time.
Anyway, his call mirrors what many entertainers have had in mind for a long time. Zakes Bantwini made the call during his 43rd birthday celebration which the minister attended.
He conceded that the minister has only recently assumed his new post but then he is in a very important position to cause changes for good in the industry, and many in the industry are looking up to him to do just that.
Responding to Zakes Batwini\s admonition, the minister agreed with him while also pointing to the Grammy-winning singer as being a bastion of hope. He recalled knowing Zakes before fame and how he has since grown into an important figure in South African music – an inspiration to many across the country.
If and how the minister eventually intervenes in the country’s entertainment industry is left to time. We will be here to bring you the scoop. So stay tuned.
