Zanda Zakuza Talks Battle With Depression

Famous Mzansi singer and songwriter Zanda Zakuza has opened up about her battle with depression.

We have often heard how our faves struggled to stay sane due to what they face in the entertainment scene. In a chat with Zimoja, Zanda Zakuza opened up about leaving Joburg and moving in with her parents. She said,

“This industry was getting too toxic for me, and I couldn’t take it anymore. It was important for me to retreat and work on my mental health.”

“I only come to Jozi when I have a gig-it’s a toxic place.”

She also promised to return in 2024 with new music.

“I have a lot of music that I will be dropping, and I might be joining a new record label.”

Last year, Zanda spoke to fans about being depressed during a Live Instagram feed. She said,

“I had a little dabble in depression and anxiety. I feel I let one unfortunate incident last forever. I chose to wallow in my sadness longer than I needed to. It was one dead moment that needed to last a short while but went over a year.”

She continued,

“Sometimes it’s hard to pull yourself out of sadness … but we forget that the world continues with or without you. The world continued while I was sad about something I could not control. The world was happening to me…”
