Thandiswa Mazwai, Tbo Touch, and more have posted tributes in honour of Zoleka Mandela following the news of her passing.
Mzansi is in mourning. We were all sad to hear about Zoleka Mandela’s passing after battling cancer for years. Reports state that she died on the eve of her grandmother Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s birthday at the age of 43.
Briefly also reports that she “battled metastatic cancer to the hip, liver, lung, pelvis, brain, and spinal cord.” And “had been receiving treatment, but recent scans showed that the disease had progressed, and she had fibrosis in the lungs.”
Tributes have poured in across social media to honour the late “When Hope Whispers” author. Thandiswa Mazwai wrote,
“Condolences to Zoleka’s children & the Mandela family as a whole. She fought her cancer so bravely and suffered so many tragedies. Rest in peace, Zoleka. Today, as we commemorate your grandmother’s birthday we release you into your ancestors loving arms. Lala ngoxolo.”
Radio and TV star TBO Touch took to Instagram and wrote, “The Lord gives and surely took away on a revolutionary day. Zoleka please tell Mama that on this Tuesday September 26th 2023, I’m driving on Winnie Madikizela Mandela Drive.”
Winnie Ntshaba bade her farewell, “She really fought and touched many of us with her positive attitude. Rest well Zoleka, may your beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.”
