Some people may not be conversant with the name ZULO, but they have most likely heard the name Lil Trix in the past. The thing is, they are the same person. First came the Lil Trix name, then followed by the rebranding to ZULO.
The songster himself addressed this and so much more during a recent interview. He pointed out how, as a kid, he’d always had a thing for music – so much so that his mother feared that he would end up a rapper.
She was correct. He ended up as one beginning with the name Lil Trix. The name itself was a mix of personal effort and outside intervention. His cousin told him to call himself Trix and he was more than happy to oblige.
However, given his admiration for American rapper Lil Wayne, he decided to prefix Lil to the name, making Lil Trix. Along the line, though, he realised that he could never be the biggest “Lil” out there, as that was already Lil Wayne.
Well, that informed the decision to change the name to ZULO. Here, he made it clear there is no persona. ZULO is him – as simple as that. And, he remains his authentic artistic self.
