Zulu Mkhathini Tops The Leaderboard For Season 2 Of The Lite Show

Season 2 of The Lite Show may have ended but a bonus interview with Zulu Mkhathini showed the King of Slay topping the leaderboard for this season’s Stay in the Game, toppling the leader, Mpho Popps, who appeared in Episode 3 of this season.

In an honest and open interview with host Donovan Goliath, Zulu spoke about his childhood and said the reason he’s so multifaceted is because he never focused on one single thing. Growing up in the Durban township of Ntuzuma, Zulu says his teachers and community members would always tell his mom he has star quality and she felt pressured to remind him to keep pushing and to achieve his dreams. He rose to the pressure and describes himself as a “proud African Zulu man”.

People might have known Zulu as “Dash” from hip-hop group, Dreamteam. Now a recognised solo artist, he says his journey is the result of many people contributing to his success, including his mom and sister. Zulu, who dropped a highly successful album during the pandemic and collaborated with some of the best in South Africa’s popular music scene, is close to the Castle Lite brand as he previously hosted #UtimateHouseParty.

The show closed out with Zulu freestyling with Donovan in a perfect end to a jam-packed season of laughs and celebration of South African entertainment.
