NOSA Academy Courses

The National Occupational Safety Association (NOSA), a body providing training in health and safety, was established by the South African government in 1951 but has long been taken over by new owners.

NOSA has a very rich course bouquet that you can pick from. Each course is further divided into several areas from which you can choose if you want to specialize.

Some of the courses offered by NOSA are: working at heights courses, fire safety courses, first aid courses, general industry courses, skills programs, international courses, executive level courses, mining industry courses, NQA OHSAS & ISO certification, SHE courses, SHE legislation courses, and specialized courses.

Details of these courses, including divisions and fees, are given in the “fees” section of this article below.

Application Form

Looking forward to applying for one of the courses offered by NOSA? You’re probably on the right track. At the moment, though, applicants for safety courses cannot just access the form online.

To get the SafetySA Form, for example, potential applicants should navigate to the site https://NOSA.co.za/pluginops_forms/safetysa-form/ and fill in their names, email, and mobile phone number. NOSA will get in touch with you shortly regarding your interest in the application form.

Prices & Fees

NOSA offers many courses in health, safety, and environment. Some courses last days, while others last months and even years. In most cases, the longer the courses, the higher the fees/ prices.

Below are some courses at NOSA and the applicable fees at the time of writing this post.

The executive level course are of managers and senior executives, and covers courses like Climate Change Management, which costs costing R2,540 for 2 days training; Corporate Governance: An Insight into Strategic Risk Management, which costs R4,710 for 2 days; and Training Safety for Senior Executives, at a rate of R2,110 for a day of training.

The working at heights courses encapsulates training like Post Fall Arrest Rescue – R1,830 on the training date; Fall Protection Plan Development at R5,990 for 5 days; Fall Arrest & Rescue at R4,290 for 3 days; Basic Fall Arrest Working at Height (Basic) at R1,290 on the training date;  Advanced Fall Arrest, and  Eskom Fall Arrest System User.

The SHE, also called HSE, covers training like Introduction to Occupational Health & Safety Act at R3,070 for 3 days; Preliminary Incident Investigation at R2,890 for 2 days, Safety for Supervisors Training Course (SSTC) Safety for Supervisors Training Course with Practical (SSTC) at R4,530 for 3 days; and SHE Representative Course at R990 on the training date.

The list is by no means complete

Accreditation

An accreditation is like a certification a training organization is capable of doing what it claims it can, and has got the backing of the authorities. Without it, whatever certificate one obtains is of no value in the larger society, as it would not be recognized.

Here, you need not worry about NOSA, though. The company is SO 9001 certified and SETA accredited. It is also reportedly the first company in South Africa to provide NEBOSH international certificates
