Every year in June, some South African artists take it upon themselves to document and illuminate the country’s recent past and the Soweto Uprising of June 16, 1976. One of the artists who has just done that is Almighty SA.
The songster links up with his associates Msamaria, Nation-365, Mzostra and T.M.A_Rsa for a song titled “Freedom,” which you can stream here on UbeToo, your go-to place for all things Mzansi music and entertainment.
It seems just like yesterday when South Africa was under apartheid rule and groaning as the rights of blacks were trampled upon. But decades have passed. Still, the memories of that ghastly epoch are still fresh.
And with the latest song, it is like reopening an old wound. It will likely bring tears to the eyes of some people, provoke anger in others and also likely reignite new interest in South African history.
