Ugandan songstress Iryn Namubiru treats fans to a track titled “Mpulira,” which you can stream here on UbeToo, South Africa’s premier entertainment and music hub.
This is not a song in the sense that, although it is part of the album of same title, it actually premiered in late 2020. As should be apparent, however, time has not blunted the song’s appeal.
At the time of the release of the song, the songstress had said she would shoot the music video because of the many uncertainties spawned by the coronavirus pandemic. She described the video-shooting process as capital intensive, and with no source of income from gigs, thanks to lockdown measures in place, she isn’t throwing away scarce resources shooting the video. Instead she promised – and actually delivered – a reggae version of the song.
We’re for the original “Mpulira” tune, though. It’s a song of robust emotional appeal that will not struggle for fans. You only have to listen to it to draw a similar verdict. If you care for an interesting break, listen to this song.
