Lorde Premieres “Te-Ao-Mārama,” An Album In Māori Language

I am beginning a new journey, Lorde had said of her mini-album “Te-Ao-Mārama,” released in the Maori.

This compilation comprises five tracks with Maori titles and their English translations. The songs are sung in Maori, however. The compilation begins with “The Path” and ends on a note of “Oceanic Feeling.”

In between, she unleashed “Solar Power,” and got “Stoned at the Nail Salon.” And then there’s her “Fallen Fruit.” A full feast you have here, although you might struggle a bit to grasp her message.

Electing to release a project in Maori is patently ambitious. To Lorde’s credit, she actually has a fine body of work in “Te-Ao-Mārama.” The project should make a splendid addition to the body of work on the Maori people.

“Te-Ao-Mārama” is one compilation that will resonate with not just the Maori but anyone desirous of an ambitious musical break. Y’ all should love it.

The Maori are indigenous Polynesians who now occupy mainland New Zealand. They are also to be found in countries like the United States, Australia, and Canada.

Well, what do you think of Lorde’s ambitious Maori project? You’re welcome to stream the album below and join the conversation by dropping your thoughts in the comment section.
