Mafikizolo has just released a new song titled “Thandolwethu.”
About a week back, the South African group of two teased the song on Instagram and urged fans to look out for the full version. The full version is here now, a treat to the ears, an en emollient on the soul. You should love. At any rate, we do.
Mafikizolo was formerly a three-man group. The third member died in a car rage years ago, leaving two members who apparently have no plans of adding another member to replace the dead. No qualms, though. The two are a hit just the same, respected voices in the world of South African music. In fact a list of critical voices in South African usic right now will not be complete without them.
By the way, Nhlanhla Nciza, one-half of the Mafikizolo duo, recently celebrated her son Luvuyo’s birthday. She and her husband separated last year but are still on talking terms. They celebrated his birthday apart: she, alone; and her husband, with Luvuyo.
How would you rate the full song? Does it compare in vocal quality to the Instagram teaser released earlier? You may want to join the conversation by dropping your thoughts in the comment section below.
