South African musicians Zakes Bantwini, Thandi Draai, and Darque link up for “Kunye Live Mix,” which you can stream here on UbeToo. It’s a meeting of three champs and they did a fine job at the decks.
“Kunye,” an initiative of DJ Shimza, is to afro-tech what “Balcony Mix” is to amapiano. Kunye sessions explore the beauties of afro-tech music, letting the world know that despite the obvious inroads and arrogance of amapiano in South Africa, afro-tech isn’t dead.
With “Kunye Live Mix,” Zakes Bantwini, Thandi Draai, and Darque share the afro-tech message in a way that should engage just about any audience out there. The three friends are pretty good together, as should be obvious from listening to their live session.
They bring individual experiences and styles to their set yet they manage to hold the attention of the listener throughout. Now that’s what a fine mix is all about. Take that to the bank, mate.
