AmaPiano star Focalistic, in partnership with Adidas, has unveiled an innovative new single titled “Pressure,” inspired by the challenges faced by artists and athletes in their fields. Accompanying this release is a groundbreaking music video named “Pressure,” showcasing a wide range of famous South African personalities from Adidas’ sports and lifestyle sectors. Notably, the video includes scenes shot at the iconic Orlando Stadium and features cameo appearances by soccer legend Lucas Radebe, South African national football team captain Ronwen Williams, and Orlando Pirates forward Relebohile Mofokeng, among others.
Drawing inspiration from the concept of overcoming pressure, Focalistic has created a unique anthem that combines football’s rich heritage with the dynamic energy of amaPiano music, a genre that has captured the hearts of global audiences. This collaboration represents a pivotal moment, blending cultural and sports icons to produce a quintessentially South African music video that celebrates both sports and the culture it inspires. “Pressure” is more than a song; it embodies the spirit of triumphing over adversity, influenced by Focalistic’s own journey from a promising young footballer to a leading figure in the music industry. It also reflects Adidas’ commitment to alleviating the pressures felt by athletes, encouraging them to relish the joy that sparked their careers.
Focalistic reflects on his roots in Garankuwa, Pretoria, where he once dreamed of being a soccer star like Messi. Today, while he may not be a professional footballer, he applies the discipline learned from soccer to produce hit records and manage his soccer-inspired record label, “18 Area.” His passion for music has also enabled collaborations with brands like Adidas, culminating in the creation of “Pressure,” a tribute to sports and culture. Focalistic hopes this song will motivate and uplift those facing pressure.
The video also stars Relebohile Mofokeng, known as Ratomo, who is celebrated as one of the PSL’s most thrilling talents. He appears prominently in the video, filmed in a stadium he is intimately familiar with. His enthusiasm for music and dance is evident across his social media platforms. National team captain and goalkeeper Ronwen Williams also features in the video, where his skill in handling sports-related pressures shone during the recent Africa Cup of Nations, notably saving two penalties in a shootout to clinch third place for South Africa. Lucas Radebe, one of South Africa’s most esteemed footballers, adds a touch of humor in a cameo towards the end of the video.
This initiative aligns with the launch of Adidas Originals’ latest campaign, which explores the brand’s rich cultural legacy and celebrates the communities that have adopted iconic styles like the Samba, Gazelle, and Handball Spezial.
