He was “the man” in his heyday in the sport, but he’s still highly regarded in South African cricket. So when Abraham Benjamin “AB” de Villiers gave his seal of approval to Dewald Brevis, South Africans were more than happy to form a line of honour and applaud the player as well.
Dewald Brevis had a great outing during the innings in the CSA T20 clash between the Titans and the Knights in Potchefstroom yesterday, Monday, 31 October.
With a 35-ball smash, 13 fours and 13 sixes, among others, Brevis was impressive enough to elicit a nod from AB de Villiers. The former Proteas skipper was laconic in his observation of the match but passed the message clearly enough in a tweet, which reads: “Dewald Brevis: No need to say more.”
It turned out that many others shared the same sentiment. They were just as impressed with Brevis’s performance. Maybe that shouldn’t be surprising because Brevis looks up to AB and had once noted that he’d always watched videos of de Villiers and remembered the same while going to bat.
