After a partnership that failed as a result of Kanye West’s rash of antisemitism, sportswear giant Adidas is still trying to “free” itself from West’s Yeezy brand.
The “Donda” rapper had gone into a partnership with Adidas to produce stuff under the Yeezy brand. It was a grand partnership that bumped up Ye’s net worth, making him sit pretty in the billionaire’s club.
The partnership was as good as it lasted. But with West igniting waves of antisemitism with his careless statements and posts, Adidas was under pressure to cut ties with him. It did, and Ye lost his spot in the billionaires’ league.
He was defiant despite the loss. Of course, in his defiance, he had those who supported him and those who opposed him. Adidas itself was just one of a couple of brands that cut ties as a result of his attack on the Jews.
Cutting ties with Ye has left Adidas with so many unsold Yeezys. Right now, Adidas is planning to sell the remaining Yeezy sneakers it has in stock to be finally done with the brand. Whether or not another partnership with Ye will suffice is left to time. Keep your eyes peeled for what follows.
