It was to have been a magical moment, with DJ Maphorisa performing at Boity’s 30th birthday, but he was not on the ground for that occasion, having been detained for allegedly slapping his girlfriend Thuli Phongolo.
Well, as the saying goes, when one king is down, another takes over in his stead. That was exactly what happened with DJ Maphorisa, as his compatriot, associate and fellow piano king Kabza De Small had to stand in for him during the birthday bash.
Although Lawd Porry failed to show up because of his police case, the celebration went on as usual and those in attendance had a wonderful time. As some tweeps noted, it was like DJ Maphorisa didn’t miss the performance because Kabza did well in his set.
Both musicians are considered lings of amapiano in reference to their collaborative album of the same title, as well as for their contributions to the amapiano genre. They have put together several projects as a team and they are not done yet despite the “Gqom Wave” star’s arrest.
On the 19th of this month, both musicians will be dropping what they call “The Konka Mixtape.” Of course, we will be here to share the project with you.
