Alleged Tax Evasion: Zahara Turns Herself In

South African singer Zahara has handed herself over to the police afte the failed to appear in court, when summoned to, on tax evasion charges.

A warrant of arrest had reportedly been issued on her in April after she failed to appear in court. The specialised commercial crimes court had thereafter found her guilty of contempt of court.

Zahara’a trouble with the law began when the South Africa Revenue Service (SARS) claimed she failed to file company and personal income tax returns. The songstress had been charged to court charged in her personal capacity and as a representative of her company, Zahara Trading (Pty) Ltd, according to Phindi Mjonondwane, a spokesperson for the national prosecuting authority (NPA).

By the way, around the same period a warrant of arrest had been issued against her, Zahara had disappeared from social media, leading fans to start asking, “Where is Zahara?” The question is irrelevant at this point.
