Amapiano Ace Boohle Reflects On Her Musical Journey

It is often said that people started somewhere. South African singer Boohle is no different. Years ago, she was an unknown voice. But now her name resonates across South Africa as one of the prominent amapiano voices.

Recently, she spoke about her journey in the industry and how she has managed to make it to the top of the piano music scene. She credited her church grounding with influencing the course of her music, despite her not necessarily being a gospel musician.

She also pointed to “Water,” a hit tune by fellow South African Tyla, as having enormously influenced her. She described the song as having changed her life but still noted that it was only the beginning – such is the faith she has in the tune.

Amapiano is currently the in-thing in South Africa. Years ago, though, some people had no faith in the genre. In fact, some people even gave it a timeline to become irrelevant and disappear. Instead, the genre has continued to grow in strength, even snagging musicians from other genres into its fold.

And Boohle happens to be one of the musicians in the vanguard of amapiano’s dominance in South Africa – something that hasn’t gone unnoticed.
