Amstel Lager has terminated it’s sponsorship of ‘Podcast & Chill with MacG’.
According to recent reports, Amstel has withdrawn its sponsorship of MacG’s popular YouTube series ‘Podcast & Chill with MacG’. This comes after offensive comments were made by the Podcast hosts, MacG (Macgyver Mukwevho) and Sol Phenduka on a recently shared episode.
They had made offensive comments about a Transgender woman. In a shared statement with Channel24, Amstel revealed that the brand “locally and globally, is centred around friendship and inclusion of all people, regardless of gender, race or sexual orientation, without discrimination, and we distance ourselves from any transphobic and homophobic views.” The brand also revealed that the sponsorship termination took effect on December 1st.
MacG’s “Podcast and Chill” also came under fire following comments made during a recent episode with rapper and TV personality, Jub Jub where they made offensive comments about women. The show has also been accused of being making “harmful” comments against the LGBTQ community.
