The Big Brother Mzansi reality show has just responded to threats to report the show to the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA).
What provoked the threats was a clip of the moment when some male housemates were seen discussing plans to take advantage of ladies who were too drunk and have sex with them on the set.
Many South Africans who watched that part of the show found it repugnant and called out the show’s producers for it, pointing out how the contestants’ actions seem to glorify sexual exploitation and violence.
I want to put it on record for those who are saying we misheard Bravo B and Makhekhe. #BBMzansipic.twitter.com/9MCDmp0ksY

Well, it turned out that the producers of the show were in the mood to listen to the public, as they posted soon after, acknowledging the complaints from the public. Beyond that, they also pointed out that the incident is under investigation.
It ended with a promise to provide an update soon. How soon that update will come is unclear. But, at least for most people, that statement showed the readiness of the producers to address the problem. You can check out the post below.
We are aware of the incident that transpired in the early hours of this morning in the Big Brother Mzansi house. We are currently investigating this matter and will provide an update in due course. #BBMzansi
