Big Zulu Backs Zuma Against the Constitutional Court

Inkabi Records boss Big Zulu has voiced his support for Jacob Zuma against the South African Constitutional Court, which has found the former president guilty of contempt of court and convicted him for 15 months.

The embattled former president is still at home in Nkandla, though, and his fans and supporters are threatening war if the government should try to pick him and send him to prison.

Among those supporting the former president, who’s also being investigated for corruption amid the state capture enquiry, is a veterans association.

In a tweet on 4 July, Big Zulu had shared a picture of him and the former president’s son Duduzane Zuma pumping hands. In the caption, he had written in Zulu, “Ithambo lakith siyolifela Nxamalala,” which loosely translates to “We will die for our brothers.”

The tweet elicited mixed reactions from social media users. While some supported Big Zulu backing the embattled Zuma, others warned him not to meddle in politics, as the outcome might not be good for his career.
