Caster Semenya’s recent triumph has got many of her celebrity compatriots excited and celebrating with her on social media.
A recent report by the AFP indicated that the athlete had won her case against Switzerland at the European Court of Human Rights, which ruled that she was a victim of discrimination. Her rights were reportedly violated after World Athletics required her to lower her testosterone levels.
When the European Court of Human Rights released its verdict, many South Africans were overjoyed and most took to social media to express their delight. Among those who did was the socialite and entrepreneur Bonang Matheba.
In a tweet on her official page, she celebrated Semnya’s victory while also celebrating the victories of the country’s national football team (Bafana Bafana) against Eswatini and the country’s rugby team (Springboks) as well.
Equally in celebration mood over Semenya’s victory was actress and media personality Pearl Thusi. In a post on her Instagram page, she could only scream “Yes!!!!” while sharing the AFP article showing Semenya’s victory. You can check it out below.
For her part, Dineo Ranaka, who has been battling depression for a while, noted that the truth will be televised and the win was worth the wait. Her post follows.
For Semenya, it feels really good to be getting the support of her compatriots.
