Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” Confirmed Double Platinum

Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s collaborative tune “WAP” has just earned double platinum status. Surprising? Not at all. The song was controversial outright and charged almost to the top of the charts on release.

Conservative America criticized the song for its raunchy lyrics and scenes. But the criticisms apparently aided the song’s climb and even gave the two artistes behind it a billboard record.

Those who had not checked out the song previously are doing so just out of curiosity. And the numbers are climbing. It was recently reported the song has sold over 2 million units, earning it double platinum status.

The controversies surrounding the song remain, of course. For some critics, the song is a potent symbol of America’s moral and cultural collapse. But then no one conversant with Cardi B’s career trajectory – and even her pal Megan Thee Stallion’s – will be surprised at the song’s unapologetic advertisement of female sexuality.

With interest in the song surging, it just might hit triple platinum soon.
