Cassper Nyovest explains what his partnership with UMG means for indie artists.
If you were worried Cassper Nyovest signed all his music rights to UMG in 2018, then you really need to read this. We might as well say, Cassper Nyovest isn’t only music savvy, he’s also a business man to the core. His partnership with UMG is testament to this fact.
The SA Hip Hop star explains that he’s in a JV partnership with the label which means that he still owns 100% of his music. Sorry haters, he actually does. After the signing in 2018, the Mzansi rapper announced that he had secured the BAG. He also called it a win for Indie artists.
He now explains that he pays back every single cent UMG spends in promoting his music. He also revealed that he had plans to start a music workshop on the topic before the lockdown. We all know how that went down.
I'm still indi Bro. In a JV partnership with UMD. Still own and direct 100 %. Would break it down but half of the game would be mad. I am still signed understand myself and I still fund myself. Every cent Universal uses gets paid back by me, not by taking ownership of anything. https://t.co/xbtPs5GdFk

I would love to but Twitter is not the place for teaching. Here it's all fun and games. They just wanna laugh and make fun of successful people. I was actually planning a music workshop before lockdown where I can filter the idiots and engage with people who wanna learn from me. https://t.co/9l7sSH194B
