One morbid reality of life is that, at some point, it will be no more. Man is born, and man dies. For celebrated comic actor and TV detective, Richard Belzer, death came calling at the age of 78.
According to Belzer’s longtime friend and associate Bill Scheft, the actor died at his home in Southern France. While no official cause of death has been given, Belzer had reportedly battled circulatory and respiratory issues for years.
So, naturally, the narrative is that the circulatory and respiratory issues he was suffering from had a link to his death.
While he lived. Belzer had a great run in the film universe, where he cultivated a massive following, especially as a homicide detective who delights in spewing conspiracy theories. Among his standout films are “30 Rock” and “Arrested Development.”
Since the news of his death broke online, those who are conversant with his work and his person, have been sharing their thoughts on both, and how the film industry would miss his creative flame. Among those who have commented about his passing so far is his cousin, the actor Henry Winkler, who tweeted, “rest in peace, Richard.”
That phrase sums up what many other fans have in mind but are too sad to articulate.
