In the spirit of Converse’s “Create Next” movement, a vast creative ferment is taking place, involving some South African creators and other creatives from other parts of the world. They get to create stuff with the American rapper and record producer Tyler, the Creator.
The Create Next movement is an initiative by Converse to harness the creative gifts of artistic and musical talents from around 12 countries. The selected 30 creatives get to collaborate on art, music, culture, and so much more.
The initiative, which started in Sydney, Australia, has three South Africans on the lineup — Nyota Parker, a rapper; Ginelio Da Silva, a disc jockey and producer; and Lesego “Ego Freckles” Sidumo.
The Converse All Stars will attend a three-day work hosted by different industry leaders to broaden their experiences as well as their creative universe.
Tyler the Creator is excited about the collaborative opportunity. He noted how Converse blew his expectations out of the water. Now, some creative magic results.
For the South Africans on the All Stars cast, it’s a leap into new experiences and into the deep. And while they haven’t been too loud about this milestone in their creative adventures, their fans have not been slow in celebrating it.
