Musa Mseleku On Sello Maake kaNcube’s Bogus Honorary Doctorate

Musa Mseleku has shared his thoughts on celebrated thespian Sello Maake Kancube receiving an honorary doctorate from a bogus institution, insisting that the actor is not to be blamed for what happened.

Indeed, Sello may not have done his “due diligence” to verify the authenticity of the institution conferring him with an honorary doctorate, but that takes nothing from the fact that he is an accomplished figure in South African film.

Musa rued the fact that it takes a foreign if bogus institution to recognise the veteran actor while authentic institutions back home have seemingly ignored him and not similarly honoured him.

While it is embarrassing that this actually happened – sello receiving an honorary doctorate from a bogus institution, – Musa is confident that the ctor would survive this and he wouldn’t lose the respect he has already earned from the public as a thespian.

Here, he apparently has the support of many South Africans. See the post below.

Honorary doctorates are offered by institutions around the world. The difference is in the institution offering it and sometimes the performed being conferred with such an honour. Some institutions are registered, known and respectable, and some are not. Therein lies the difference.
