DJ Maphorisa Implores Doja Cat To Return To South Africa & Make Piano Music

Amapiano producer DJ Maphorisa has urged his American counterpart Doja Cat to return home to South Africa and join the piano revolution in the Rainbow Nation.

If you think the call is out of place, you shouldn’t. Doja Cat is the daughter of a South African man and an American woman. She just happened to have spent all her life in America and is now an American citizen.

Born Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, Doja Cat developed an interest in music when she was pretty young, and her mother encouraged her by ensuring she had singing lessons. Years later, Doja would emerge as one of the critical voices in American music.

Given her current influence as a musician, it isn’t surprising that DJ Maphorisa should encourage her to come home.

DJ Maphorisa had made the call for her to return to South Africa in a recent tweet. He’d also encouraged her to release an amapiano album. Piano music is the in-thing in South Africa right now, so the calling isn’t surprising as well.

It will be interesting to see if the songstress would listen to Phori and come home for a piano blast. Her coming will certainly ignite interest in piano music.
