EFF Demands Justice For School Girl Allegedly Slain By Police

South Africa’s opposition party, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has demanded answers over the killing of a 17-year-old girl by police during the Mkhondo protest.

The said school girl was reportedly shot dead by police last Monday during a service delivery protest in Mkhondo, provoking outrage from residents of the area.

The EFF noted that the victim, Thalente Msibi, was fatally shot while on her way from school, According to the political party, the officer responsible for the killing of the schoolgirl must be arrested. It also called on the provincial commissioner, Lt-Gen Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, to provide answers to the girl’s distraught family.

According to multiple reports, the case is currently with IPID, whose spokesperson Lizzy Suping confirmed that investigations are currently ongoing.
