Motherland Tour: Floyd Mayweather’s Focus On Zimbabwe In Social Media Posts Divides Mzansi

It is no longer news that American boxer Floyd Mayweather visited Zimbabwe and South Africa as part of what he called his “Motherland Tour.” The news is that of the two countries visited, the celebrated boxer only posted about Zimbabwe.

In a post on his verified Instagram page, he shared a clip of his trip to Zimbabwe and the wonderful reception he got. He thanked the country for embracing him with open arms. Thereafter, he had flown to South Africa.

While he had a wonderful time in the Rainbow Nation, he failed to post about his trip there. Some South Africans felt slighted by his not posting about the country, and they fired shots at him online.

However, there were those who saw nothing wrong in him not posting about his trip to South Africa. One of those who supported this even noted that “posting your location is dangerous in South Africa.”

Mayweather is in the country to look for new boxing talent – the next Mayweather. His trip this month makes it the second time he had visited South Africa.

It remains to be seen if and when he would get the boxing talent he is eyeing since he believes the next Mayweather should be from Africa.
