Former Bafana Bafana Midfielder John Moeti Dead At 55

In his active days, he was one of the notable players on the pitch and did pretty well as part of the Bafana Bafana team. But like all mortals, there is a day of departure from the material plane. For John Moeti, death came calling recently at the age of 55.

The South African Football Association confirmed his death in a statement while also sharing its condolences with the family and friends of the deceased. 

In a statement, Mieti’s family also confirmed the grim news while giving insight into what went down and how he died. 

He had succumbed to his illness and died at home surrounded by his family. The family thanked those who have been steadfast in their prayers and support for the retired footballer through his health battles. 

In his active days, Moeti stood out as a midfielder and was part of Clive Barker’s team that won the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations. 

The news of his death had South Africans troplingbtonsocial media platforms to speak of what his passing meant to the country’s football. Some tweeps noted that he would be sorely missed as part of those who brought the game to some visibility in his active days.
