It appears like Vusi Thembekwayo’s marriage has broken down irretrievably amid claims of gender-based violence. But then, watchers of the couple’s relationship wouldn’t be surprised, as the allegations have been around for a while now.
Back in 2021, things got particularly heated between husband and wife, with Vusi claiming in a statement that his wife Palesa had issues with substance abuse. She was said to have been particularly hurt by that claim and went ahead with making her own.
Palesa is claiming that in their 13 years of marriage, Vusi had beaten her and cheated on her as well. In her battle with her husband, she appeared to have gotten the sympathy of members of the public, and many were unimpressed with Vusi going public with her alleged substance abuse.
As far as some social media users were concerned, it was extreme of Vusi to have shared that unpleasant detail about the woman he claims to love – true or false. And with Palesa technically done with the marriage, it appears like only a miracle would save things now – a really sad case for a couple that some South Africans used to look up to for couple goals.
It remains to be seen what the courts will rule on the case.
