Hlomla Dandala Finally Debuts as Caesar on ‘Smoke and Mirrors’

Famous Mzansi actor Hlomla Dandala has finally replaced Zolisa Xaluva as Caesar in the hit series “Smoke And Mirrors.”

Last year, news broke that Zolisa Xaluva would no longer play the ruthless businessman Caesar in etv’s “Smoke And Mirrors.” Phil Mphela wrote,

“Zolisa Xaluva fired from #etvSmokeAndMirrors. The prolific award-winning actor has been let go from the hit eTV telenovela, which is the 7th most-watched show in South Africa.”

ZiMoja reported that he had money-related issues with the show’s production company. They wrote that after much back and forth, a decision was made not to renew his contract.

An insider told the publication, “Some may call it being fired, but his contract is not being renewed. The company wants him to only work for them and not on other productions, and he was questioning that clause in the contract,” an e-TV insider said. “He knows his value, which to some people may seem arrogant, but he is a gentleman, and he is not desperate. The company wouldn’t agree to some of his terms, and they parted ways, simple as that.”

He was replaced by Hlomla Dandala. The insider said, “He is not coming in as another ruthless character who kills Caesar. He is coming in as Caesar Ngonyama and taking over from Zolisa. Tricky ne? He will be playing the role of Caesar, and people will always try and compare them. That is something we need to brace ourselves for.”

Hlomla Dandala has now debuted as Caesar after filming for season two of the series.
