While speaking in a recent episode of his Brilliant Idiots podcast with Andrew Schulz, Charlamagne Tha God made his comment about Drake’s brand new single. He stated that he does not respect the intent behind ‘Tooslie Slide’s release,
The popular radio host and hip-hop commentator said about the song:
I think it’s wack, and I think it’s beneath Drake. I think that when you’re the biggest artist in the world, when you’re the biggest rapper in the world, I don’t like to see you chasing trends, why be a surfer when you’re a fucking wave? I just didn’t respect it.
The Canadian rapper’s new single debuted at #1 on Billboard Hot 100. This is all thanks to a viral dance craze. However, Charlamagne Tha God believes that the ‘Keke’ hitmaker did not need to stoop to a level so as to make his song a hit.
The host added:
The shit might still work but it just don’t seem organic. A lot of times with those TikTok dances, it’s just organic. It’s a song people like and somebody does something to it and it goes. It felt too forced. Too corporate. Too industry. I just feel like Drake has built himself up in such a way that he don’t have to do that shit.
