Involuntary Manslaughter: Alec Baldwin Charged Over “Rust” Film Shooting

The years have passed but the drama is not yet past for Alec Baldwin, who is facing charges of mansluaghter following the shooting on the set of “Rust” that left an actor dead.

The case has dragged on for a while, with Alec Baldwin’s attempts to extricate himself from the whole tragedy seemingly not bearing the results he anticipated.

Baldwin was a director on the set of the flick. He was holding a Colt .45 during rehearsakas and reporedly accidentally discharged the weapon, wounding director Joel Souza and killing the cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

The incident reverberated around the world, with netizens sharing their thoughts on it. A prevailing question was why a loaded gun should be used during rehearsal. Another was why the weapon wasn’t checked before use on the set of the low-budget Western.

The questions continue to this day, with seemingly no definitive answers to them.

Baldwin initially denied responsibility for the shooting. Initial charges of manslaughter against him were dropped in April last year over what was described as “new facts.”

It was determined that a jury should hear the case, and that was exactly what happened. And now the  same jury has indicted the producer on manslaughter charges.
