Itumeleng Khune: Kaizer Chiefs Unsuspends Goalie, Announces His Return

After a suspension that must have seemed like an eternity to him, Kaizer Chiefs goalie Itumeleng Khune has been recalled to join the team again.

The ace footballer lost his position as the number 1 goalie on the team after reporting to training drunk. Such an act of “indiscipline” was justly rewarded with a suspension that saw him tossed back at home and barred from draining with the team or travelling with them for any assignment.

The suspension reverberated across South Africa at the time, with some of his fans feeling sorry for him and some of them generally indifferent. There were those who even mocked him for being suspended over his drinking, including a fellow footballer.

Well, all that appears to be in the past at this point, as Kaizer Chiefs has issued an official statement notifying the public of the goalie rejoining the club after serving his suspension.

Interestingly, the reactions to his return to the club have been mixed as well, with some tweeps welcoming him back and some asking when he is retiring. Well, retirement doesn’t appear to be on the cards for Itumeleng Khune right now. He is more focused on giving his best to the team on his return than on anything else.
