Kaizer Chiefs: Who is Wandile Duba?

Everything to know about Wandile Duba, Kaizer Chiefs’ teen sensation.

We don’t know if you’ve noticed, but a young Wandile Duba has caught many eyes. The skilled teen has delivered impressive performances in Kaizer Chiefs’ youth ranks and made a cameo in the first team. We hear he could be in line to make his senior team full debut.

Here’s everything you should know about the young champ who could be dominating screens soon.

Duba was born in Lenasia. He joined the Chiefs’ reserves team about a year ago and gave stunning performances in all the competitions he played in. Duba guided the Chiefs to the DStv Diski Shield Cup in July 2022. He scored three goals and was crowned the attacker of the tournament. His performance was so impressive that he was also named the club’s Most Improved Player and Attacker of the Season at their awards event.

Duba did not stop there. He appeared at the Engen Champs of Champs early in October and also gave everyone a show of what he could deliver. He scored six goals in the three-day tournament to help his team take home the title. Duba was crowned the overall Striker of the Tournament.

Starting from the bench, Duba made the Chiefs’ 18-man squad when the team’s seniors returned to the second half of the season on New Year’s Eve. He made his senior debut in the 83rd minute, replacing Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana (one of the goal scorers) in the 2-0 win over Golden Arrows. Reports reveal that Bimenyimana suffered a knock in the game.

While there is concern over his availability for the game against Sekhukhune United, Arthur Zwane said he isn’t worried. He noted that Duba is able to fill in.

“I am not worried about his injury right now. If he’s injured, we’ll play the young man Wandi. He’s got a huge potential to score goals.” Zwane said.
