In a move that surprised many, Kanye West has announced he will be running for the United States presidency this year.
The announcement was surprising in that the “Ye” crooner is known to be a supporter of President Trump and has even visited him at the White House previously.
He made the announcement of his presidential ambitions in a tweet on 5 July 2020, while emphasizing the need of trusting in God and building the future.
Although he has announced he will be running for the top job in America, he hasn’t really taken any serious steps towards actualizing that ambition. In fact, some watchers are already accusing him of ego-tripping.
Interestingly, in South Africa, another musician has indicated interest in contesting the country’s presidential seat. That musician is the “Energy” star AKA. According to him, he will be running through his own party, The Megacy – named after the collective title of his fans.
Ye can count on his fans to back his presidential ambition, but will it translate to victory at the pools?
