Kanye says the late Kobe Bryant was the basketball version of him

Kanye West says Kobe Bryant was the basketball version of him while he was alive.

Leave it to Kanye West to always spark a discussion everytime he says something about almost anything. The things he says might come from a really genuine place but it doesn’t mean people wont try to understand it for themselves.

Well, you heard right. He certainly likened himself to the late Kobe Bryant in a recent interview. Talking to GQ, Kanye spoke about a few things including his connection with Kobe and how his death gave him a new sense of purpose.

He revealed that their friendship rose from a place of mutual respect and admiration for one another, saying the late athlete was the basketball version of him.

He was the basketball version of me, and I was the rap version of him, and that’s facts! We got the commercials that prove it. No one else can say this. We came up at the same time, together.”

And now it’s like, yeah, I might have had a reputation for screaming about things—but I’m not taking any mess for an answer now,.. We’re about to build a paradigm shift for humanity. We ain’t playing with ’em. We bringing home the trophies.”

Back in 2015, Kobe and Ye filmed a very funny Nikecommercial which is definitely what the rapper was referring to in the statement. Also, we hear he’s going to be rapping on his upcoming “Jesus Is King II” project which will be produced by Dr Dre.
