Ladysmith Black Mambazo Will Not Cancel US Tour Because Joseph Shabala Wouldn’t Have

Ladysmith Black Mambazo refutes claims of cancelling US Tour

Ladysmith Black Mambazo calls claims of cancelling US Tour untrue because “it is the last thing Joseph would have wanted”.

A few days ago, Mzansi was hit with the heartbreaking news that one of its legendary singers Joseph Shabalala had passed on. The music icon is credited to be the founder of the Isicathamiya band, Ladysmith Black Mambazo. This happened while the band is currently on a US Tour, therefore news of them cancelling the tour has filled the net.

The band recently shared a statement through their Facebook page refuting the claims. According to them, it is the last thing Joseph would have wanted.

“It has been INCORRECTLY reported that we are cancelling our current USA concert tour as well as other possible tours later this year.

We are not cancelling our concert tours. We will continue to celebrate the life of our father, Joseph Shabalala, as we have done since he retired in 2014,”

The band also thanked their fans for all their support,

“THANK YOU ALL for your kind and beautiful words of love sent our way today, a very difficult day. Our father and leader, Joseph Shabalala’s mission was to continue spreading a message of Peace and Love no matter what hurdles or events tried to stop this mission”

The late Shabalala will reportedly be laid to rest on 22 February in a ceremony open to the public.
