L’Oreal has addressed rumours of Bonang Matheba replacing Thuso Mbedu as their ambassador for Sub-Saharan Africa.

In 2023, L’Oreal unveiled South African actress Thuso Mbedu as a new brand ambassador and spokesperson for L’Oréal Paris in the Sub-Saharan Africa region. The announcement was met with praise from South Africans.

ZiMoja recently reported that Bonang Matheba was gunning for Mbedu’s gig. According to an unidentified source, B and her team pitched to the international brand, and they could not resist. “She knows her story. She gave a very impressive pitch. She will be starting to shoot for the brand over the next coming weekend and has been traveling with them,” said the source.

L’Oreal has now defended Thuso’s position as its sub-Saharan Africa ambassador. They also declared.an interest in working with other influential women in a shared statement.

“L’Oréal Paris is aware of recent reports that a new spokesperson for sub-Saharan Africa will be announced. The brand affirms that actress Thuso Mbedu remains the official sub-Saharan Africa spokesperson for L’Oréal Paris since the partnership was announced last year.”
