Mandela’s Grandsons Ndaba and Mbuso Are Against Sale Of Personal Items

Nelson Mandela’s grandsons Ndaba and Mbuso have spoken out against the sale of his personal items.

Since news broke about Mandela’s daughter Makaziwe selling 70 of his personal items, people have shared their reactions to it. SAHRA lost a lawsuit to stop the sale from happening.

This time, Ndaba and Mbuso Mandela have spoken against the sale. According to them, the family has not agreed or even discussed it. They shared their thoughts on an interview with eNCA.

“This was a decision made by my aunt… We, as the rest of the family, are somewhat disheartened by it,” said Mbuso.

Ndaba called the auction a sale of their grandfather’s identity. “This is your father’s identity because obviously this is Aunty Make. This is something that belongs to the greater nation, not only the Mandela family, but also the greater nation of the country.”

According to him, his aunt is taking away the opportunity for young people to engage with the late South African icon.

“He is the father of the nation. He is the father of democracy. There should be a law against selling country documents. This should not be allowed. I’m even baffled as to how the courts gave her that decision that she should be allowed to sell such artifacts.”
