Master KG’s good fortunes continue with the recent news that he had dethroned “African Giant” Burna Boy of Nigeria as well as his compatriot Wizkid from the global digital artist ranking chart, top 200.
According to ChartsAfrica, Master KG occupies the 20th spot on the chart, far above several established voices in African music, including Wizkid and Aya Nakamura.
Interestingly, Nomcebo Zikode, with whom Master KG had released the chart-topping “Jerusalema” song, was on the list as well, on the 60th spot, above Burna Boy but below Wizkid (who occupies the 50th spot).
Master KG was helped on the chart by the massive success of his “Jerusalema” song which has been streamed over 100 million times one Spotify and over 200 million times on YouTube. Some notable voices have predicted the song will soon surpass 1 billion views on YouTube.
Well, until that happens, Master KG will be luxuriating on the success of his global digital artist ranking. At the moment he is the first South African male artiste to be so ranked.
