Minister Fikile Mbalula gets criticized for wishing the ANC a happy birthday.
Fikile Mbalula has been facing so much backlash recently. iOL reports that the minister’s speech served as a prelude to the January 8 Statement, scheduled for Saturday at Mbombela Stadium. He said in a clip making rounds on social media,
“We defended former president Zuma, even going to Parliament and saying that a swimming pool is a fire pool.”
“The Constitutional Court, chaired by Mogoeng Mogoeng, issued a judgment against Jacob Zuma, but the ANC stood by him. Zuma now says he can’t stand President Cyril Ramaphosa.”
He ruffled many feathers with this information, and social media has since been abuzz. Mbalula took to the X app to celebrate 112 years of the ANC, but he did not get the support he envisioned. Netizens did not have any good things to say about the party and slammed him for the birthday wish.
One social media user wrote, “Corrupt ANC lied to the nation. Thank you for coming clean.” Another wrote, “You lied under oath, and now expect the citizens of this country to believe everything that comes out of your mouth. Years to come, you will be saying the same thing about Ramaphosa and Phala Phala.”
Happy Birthday to the African National Congress (ANC)! 🎉 On this day, January 8, we celebrate the founding of this historic party. May the ANC continue to be a beacon of hope, progress, and unity.
