Down on his luck and down in the dumps, South African musician Dr Malinga had asked the public for financial help. At that point, fellow singer Makhadzi, who was preparing her one-woman show, decided to co-opt as part of the event.
At the time, she made it publicly known that her intentions were altruistic and she wasn’t out to exploit the Lingas Entertainment boss.
Well, the event has come and gone and there is a new narrative to it all: Dr Malinga is claiming that Makhadzi in fact exploited him. In a recent Facebook rant, he claimed that Makhadzi treated him poorly – way below how promoters even treat him.
He said he neither ate nor drank on Makhadzi’s show, adding that the singer merely wanted to exploit his name for personal ends. He also said he would go live soon where he would pour out all the details about how he was treated.
The use of the phrase “mxm” indicated that he was near contemptuous of what went down back then.
Last we checked, Makhadzi had not responded to his claims. It would be interesting to see if and how she would respond to his claims that she exploited him. Stay tuned.
